Book your Breeding! If you are looking for some great Accoyo Genetics from the late Dennis Miller’s BDAP “Kahuna”, we own his gorgeous, handsome 1st place winner “Golden Boy” and his fleece and stature just keep getting better. He has thrown his first Handsome Cria from our Bella Rose and we are so excited to see his next crias! Because he is still fairly new, we are willing to offer breedings from this loving guy for only $1,000.

Please contact us if interested before the price goes up. Remember, he is “Accoyo Huacaya” and you can see his registration on our “For Sale” page…

Our Accoyo Herd Sire, Golden Boy…

Posted by Sonja on Sunday, April 18th, 2010

We bought Golden boy as a yearling from the late Dennis Miller of Alpaca Palms because he won a first place ribbon and he is the Son of the famous Kahuna, but we still didn’t know how he would turn out as an adult and we are proud to say that he has turned out “very well, thank you!”!

Teeth cutting

Posted by Sonja on Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Most people don’t know that (Some) Alpacas need to have their teeth trimmed every year, (I know I didn’t know!) so I thought I would share this video of how we do it…pretty interesting! (And very squimish for people to imagine this…So “Caution” to those who can’t handle dental work!) I’m very proud of my Husband Robert who is a “jack of all trades” and learned how to do it from the Best of the Best. (The late Dennis Miller, owner of Alpaca Palms in Wildomar, CA…Thank you Dennis for teaching us this last year…we love and miss your presence here.)

To view the link, go to www.youtube.com and search for OldCastleAlpacas. (You will have to write it in exactly like that to get to our page (no spaces in between).

(He was up and about “pronking” within a couple of hours.)

Male Cria born March 6, 2010

Posted by Sonja on Sunday, March 7th, 2010

Twinkle had her Bay brown male cria yesterday on a cool and drizzly afternoon…The Sire (Father) is Braun Moreno. He weighed in at 21 pounds, that was our heaviest cria born yet! (The average is 12 – 16 pounds) He’s all legs!

2 new female Cria’s born in December

Posted by Sonja on Thursday, January 21st, 2010

After having mostly boys last year, it was a pleasure to see two very nice females born on the ranch! The white girl is almost pure Accoyo from Rosita, the most expensive Alpaca we bought when we started…

Sonja Lisenby and her Llama friend

Thank you for visiting our website.  We are one of the newest alpaca ranches in Southern California and are enjoying the growth of our starter herd. We welcome visitors and would be glad to give you a “live tour” if you are living in or visiting North County San Diego.

We chose the name Old Castle Alpacas because our ranch is located just 15 minutes up Old Castle Road from the 15 Freeway above Escondido. While driving up scenic Old Castle Road if you look to your right in the Valley below the curve, you can see the old Castle Turet.

We currently have 3o alpacas, 4 Llamas, 2 horses, an Alpine Dairy goat, 6 chickens, 5 dogs, 3 cats, 2 Russian Tortoises and a Canary to share with you and we have been told by former guests that they truly enjoyed their visit with us!

My son Joel created our website to be a blog so check back often for updates on “what’s happenen on the ranch!” Click on the links to the left for directions and information on the alpacas we have for sale, and thanks again for stopping in.

Sincerely,

Sonja and Robert Lisenby
